What is The Guardian?
The Guardian is a publication initiatived by the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA).

As the newsletter belongs to MCA members, The Guardian welcomes contributions and commentary on current issues concerning the welfare of Malaysians and Malaysia as a whole.

The Guardian hopes to be the ‘ Voice of MCA ‘ , where party leaders, members and the community could channel their views. It shall be part of contributions to the healthy mental evolution of the Malaysian Chinese that are caring, responsible, concerned, well informed and politically mature.

February 20th this year commemorates the 50th year anniversary of the day where Tunku Abdul Rahman declared the day of independence for the nation in Padang Pahlawan, Bandar Hilir, Melaka. Where do we stand in terms of parliamentary democracy? Have parliamentarians truly demostrated the spirit of democracy by voicing out for the people that they represent?

December 2005 Edition
Poverty often deprives a man of all spirit and virtue; it is hard for an empty bag to stand upright. Quote - Benjamin Franklin. At a function recently, MCA President Dato' Seri Ong Ka Ting announced that the party would mobilise some 4,000 branches throughout the country to come out with programmes aimed at assisting the less fortunate. This is in line with MCA's Care for the Society campaign, one of the pillars for the party's Nice-Point Action Plan to be launched soon....

March 2005 Edition
Goodwill and harmony marked the festival cheer as Chinese homes across the nation opened their doors to family and friends to welcome the Year of the Rooster. The beating of drums and gongs and the clashing of cymbals, synonymous with the mood of the Chinese New Year, echoed throughout the land as lulsating lion and dragon dances brightened up the events.

October 2003 Edition
Some 2,800 central delegates convened at Dewan San Choon, MCA headquarters on August 10 for MCA’s 50th Annual General Assembly. An important inroad was made at the meeting when the tenure of MCA’s President was limited to a maximum of nine years. At the august assembly, Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting delivered his inaugural speech as President while Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad delivered his last as Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Special Edition July 2003
An MCA leader noted for his political vision and conviction, Dato' Seri Dr Ling Liong Sik is a strong believer of moderation and pragmatism. His crisis management capability earned him the reputation of a problem solver of the MCA. Under Dr Ling's leadership, the MCA successfully overcame several crises that truly tested his mettle.

July 2003 Edition
May 23 2003 marks another cornerstone in the history of MCA when Party President Datuk Seri Dr Ling Liong Sik and his deputy Datuk Seri Lim Ah Lek announced their resignations, paving way for the younger generation to take over the party leadership. Prior to that, speculations were rift as political analysts made their predictions in the press and Internet on the impending change.
